The Georgia Latino Film Alliance (GALFA) has announced the 15th Annual Georgia Latino International Film Festival (GALIFF), set to take place from September 30 through October 4, 2026, at Atlanta's historic Fox Theatre. This milestone year, often referred to as a quinceañera, will feature Mexico as the Country of Honor, bringing a rich cinematic tradition to the forefront of the festival.
Over the years, GALIFF has grown from a bold vision into one of the Southeast's premier Latino film festivals. It has consistently championed independent filmmakers and amplified underrepresented voices, connecting Georgia with stories from across Latin America and the world. The festival has served as a launching pad for emerging artists and a gathering place for industry leaders, contributing to the cultural landscape of the region.
The 2026 festival promises five days of films, red carpets, cultural programming, and community engagement. With Mexico as the Country of Honor, audiences can expect award-winning films, visionary directors, and authentic cultural experiences that highlight the global influence of Mexican cinema. This recognition is especially meaningful, as Mexican cinema has inspired generations of storytellers worldwide.
"This Quinceañera is more than an anniversary, it's a celebration of every filmmaker, volunteer, sponsor, and audience member who believed in our mission," said Yvette Moise, Co-Founder and President of GALFA/GALIFF. "Honoring Mexico during this milestone year is especially meaningful because its cinematic legacy has inspired generations of storytellers around the world."
In addition to the festival, GALIFF has launched a redesigned galiff.org, creating a year-round digital hub. This platform will allow filmmakers, students, and film enthusiasts to access festival news, purchase passes, submit films, register to volunteer, and explore educational programming. The new website aims to keep the community engaged beyond the festival dates, fostering continuous connection and opportunity.
The festival's impact extends beyond entertainment. It has become a platform for those who might otherwise lack a voice, providing opportunities for emerging filmmakers and creating a cultural home for diverse communities. As Dr. Jose Marquez, Founder and CEO of GALFA/GALIFF, noted, "This isn't just our celebration, it's Atlanta's Hispanic Heritage celebration." The event is an invitation for everyone to participate, whether as filmmakers, volunteers, sponsors, or audience members.
The 15th anniversary is also a time to acknowledge the support of partners and sponsors, including The Fox Theatre, Ole Mexican Foods, Fulton Films, VensureHR, 222Creative, WIFTA, Georgia Films, Dekalb Entertainment Commission, and the Georgia Latino Film Alliance. Their commitment has been crucial in elevating diverse voices and building a vibrant cultural celebration.
As GALIFF celebrates this significant milestone, it looks toward an even brighter future for Latino cinema in Georgia and beyond. With festival passes, tickets, and sponsorship opportunities still available, the organization invites everyone to be part of this historic celebration. More information can be found at galiff.org.
