Trailbreaker Resources Ltd. (TBK.V) has completed its maiden diamond drill program at the Swan Zone within its 100%-owned Atsutla Gold Project in northwestern British Columbia. The program, consisting of two holes totaling 801 meters, targeted a 1.5 km by 1.5 km multi-element soil geochemical anomaly coincident with a 2.1 km by 1.4 km chargeability anomaly, as outlined in a company news release.
The Swan Zone is a copper-gold-silver porphyry target, distinct from the Highlands Zone, which is a high-grade vein-hosted gold target located 26 kilometers away. The two zones are hosted in different geological units: the Swan Zone in the Cretaceous Glundebery batholith and the Highlands Zone in the Jurassic Christmas Creek batholith. This first-pass exploratory program was designed to test a strike length of 1,000 meters and a vertical extent of 395 meters at the Swan Zone.
Prior to the Swan Zone drilling, Trailbreaker completed a four-hole program at the Highlands Zone, totaling 883.40 meters, which tested a strike length of 500 meters and a vertical extent of 412 meters. The company has submitted 1,000 drill core samples, including standard reference materials and blanks, to Bureau Veritas’ prep lab in Whitehorse, Yukon. Assay results are expected to be released after compilation and data verification.
“This was a well-executed drill program that provided us with an excellent opportunity to finally test two quality targets that we have been developing for the past five years,” said Daithi Mac Gearailt, President and CEO of Trailbreaker. “We achieved our goals while remaining within budget, and I thank our drill contractor, Empire Drilling, and the Trailbreaker team for their hard work.”
The Atsutla Gold Project is centered over the regional-scale Teslin-Thibert fault system, which marks the contact between the Quesnel and Cache Creek terranes. Gold mineralization is associated with two distinct Mesozoic batholithic intrusions. Since discovery in 2020, Trailbreaker has outlined five significant zones of gold mineralization across a 26-kilometer span: Highlands, Christmas Creek, Snook, Willie Jack, and Swan.
The Swan Zone has shown rock grab samples grading up to 11.7 g/t gold, 212 g/t silver, and 0.81% copper. The geochemical anomaly is also coincident with a donut-shaped chargeability high from a 2024 induced polarization survey and a zone of elevated potassium marked by a magnetic low signature from a 2024 airborne magnetic and radiometric survey. These features suggest a large porphyry system, making the completion of this drill program a notable step in evaluating the project’s economic potential.
The completion of drilling at the Swan Zone marks a significant milestone for Trailbreaker as it advances its exploration efforts in British Columbia. The results will be crucial in determining the next phases of exploration and could potentially expand the known mineralization at the project. For investors and industry observers, the pending assay results will provide valuable insights into the grade and extent of the copper-gold-silver mineralization, which could have implications for the project's viability and the company's future prospects.
